What Donna Stands For
Education
Our democracy was built on public education. All New Hampshire students deserve a quality education. Restrictive policies toward authentic curriculum and insertion of religious bias are not the foundation of public education. Students deserve to be instructed by highly qualified teachers who are professionally trained and certified. The Education Freedom Account, or voucher program, does not equally meet the needs of all New Hampshire students and lacks transparency. This program only serves to dismantle public education while supporting private and religious schools. It is a misuse of our tax dollars.
Reproductive Rights and Comprehensive Health Care
These are basic human rights. The decision as to when and how to start a family begins with the woman and her doctor. Reproductive health care is not only about abortion but includes contraception and fertility. The bans and infringements on personal privacy may result in infertility or other extreme risks to the woman. The people of New Hampshire deserve quality health care for all including mental health, LGBTQ and other culturally aware services that improve their lives. Decisions concerning transgender youth should be left to the child, their parents, and their doctor.
Environment and Energy
Our planet is getting warmer which in turn creates violent weather conditions. Denying the existence of our scientifically proven climate crisis is not beneficial for New Hampshire citizens. We need to address the problems resulting from rising sea level, increasing heat waves, and changing precipitation patterns. We need an environmental action plan that weans us off fossil fuel dependency by making alternative energy sources more financially accessible to the average household.
