I will study and discern all legislative proposals. I will meet with and listen to members of
all parties. I have skills to be adaptable, to compromise, and to engage in positive discourse when deciding issues with your voice first and foremost in mind.
You may often find me fishing, kayaking, walking, biking, or snowshoeing this great state of
New Hampshire.
My love of gardening is a result of my desire to protect our earth. I believe it is our responsibility to provide a healthy planet for future generations.
My husband of thirty-three years is George Ackerman Jr. We have two grown children, a daughter, Azure Leigh, who lives in Alaska and a son, George III, who lives in Colorado. I am the youngest of six. My father was a WWII veteran who became a commercial pilot after the war. He was quite the adventurer which resulted in us moving twenty-two times by my senior year. My mother returned to school completing nursing training at the age of fifty. My parents' willingness to try new things is instilled in me.
I taught Social Studies for 10 years in Southeast Alaska on a Native Reservation called Metlakatla. The tribal community was predominately Tsimpshian, a culture that immigrated from British Columbia. It was my first teaching job. As a novice educator the people helped me to become a quality teacher. They shared their heritage and adopted me into the Killer Whale Clan. They also adopted George into the Wolf Clan. This cultural experience has greatly impacted my life. It has allowed me to view the world in a new light. I am proud to have lived with and learned from my Tsimpshian friends.
I presently serve as an active member to the Wakefield Conservation Commission. I chose to work with this organization because it shares my desire to protect our environment while allowing citizens access to this great landscape we live in.
I am a member of the First Congregational Church of Wakefield, a United Church of Christ. I hold leadership roles such as, Deacon and Christian Outreach Coordinator. But my heart can be heard in my participation with the Choir. This church community connects with my personal values.
I believe that Human Rights belong to everyone no matter their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age or disability. I believe in a Livable Wage for the efforts of your labor. I believe in Health Care for all and I believe it is our duty to be stewards of this planet.
I pledge that I will listen to what you have to say. I will vote according to what the majority of the people of District 5 want. I will not vote straight party line. I will not let my personal views override what District 5 majority constituents state. I will do my part as your representative and you must do your part as a citizen to interact through a positive dialog that will result in what is best for all members of this great state. When you cast your ballot I ask for your support whether Democrat, Republican, Independent, or Undecided. And if you are able and so inclined, I ask for your donation to my campaign. Allow me to be your
NEW VOICE in Concord.
